Autumn activity

24 September 2025

Bam! And we are back! After the torpor of August, this month has been stuffed with client work, events, blogging and podcasting. We are rolling out the events and workshops we’ve been planning over the summer. More on that later!

‘Be a credible sustainable investor’ workshop

Moore Squared didn’t let a small thing like a tube strike prevent us from giving our ‘Be a credible sustainable investor’ workshop on 9th September.  We had a great group who got stuck into all the exercises we gave and provided thoughtful responses to our questions. We enjoyed sharing the framework an asset manager needs to be a credible sustainable investor, explaining the importance of getting into the mindset of your target clients and understanding the competitive landscape.

‘How to make retirement income sustainable’ networking event

We had a fabulous turn-out at the Betsey Trotwood with 30 of you coming along to discuss how to make retirement income sustainable. You were a great audience – taking part in Kinna’s poll, laughing at Esther’s pension joke (!) and asking great questions. A warm thanks to the panellists Paul Todd, chief operating officer of Nest Invest, Kinna Patel, head of investment proposition atNatWest Cushon, Esther Hawley, head of retirement proposition at Standard Life andRuss Wright, defined contribution consultant at Redington – for your insights and expansive commentary.

This month we launched series four of The Professional Investment Podcast – the first two episodes are live!

Tackling pension adequacy
In this episode, James Monk, workplace director at Fidelity International, joins us to discuss how we can address pension inadequacy. Providers are starting to grapple with the best designs to last the life of a pensioner.
The PPF success story
Shalin Bhagwan, chief actuary at the PPF joins us to look at the state of the UK’s defined benefit industry when the PPF was established two decades ago when pension scheme funding was volatile.

September blog posts

The four manager models
Many asset managers are finding their ability to succeed in these changed market conditions are often shaped by their own business model. A constantly changing market adds to the challenge.
Solving the asset management margin conudrum
Doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome is the definition of madness. The asset management industry responds to every down turn the same way – to cut headcount. But it doesn’t work.
Mastering the spotlight
We like to think building client relationships and creating sales is a continuous process. But it isn’t. Success often comes down to binary moments you need to win. If you want to maximise your success with these moments, register below!
